I am Carlos

My name is Carlos Almeida Jr, a Brazilian near to the forties and living in the Brazil countryside.

I was there at the beginning of the Internet in Brazil, producing the first applications with the things that we had in hands: sticks and stones or simple CGI/Perl scripts, a rudimentary HTML and Apache HTTP server. The development environment for the Internet evolved a bit quickly and presented me with a plethora of technologies like ColdFusion, ActionScripts with Flash, PHP, NodeJs, HTML5, and so on. Some ephemerous, as you may have seen.

At the end of the 90s, I have my first contact with Embedded Systems with TTL chips and the famous 8051. After with PICs, and also with some high-end FPGA chips at that time. I remember the worries about routing logic, made manually. In several cases, it was a challenge to avoid clock skews and also to figure out why the parallelism logic was failing. Some years later, some nightmares with signal propagation repeated in my Master’s…

Talking about the academy, I did several mathematical courses trying to be a Mathematician, but, in the end, I became a System Analyst. Later I did a Master’s degree using Reconfigurable Computing and soft cores.

I am thankful for several people that helped me in my trajectory.
